Small family camping at it's best, situated on the banks of the river Dordogne.
It's a great site for those who love friendly customer service, high standard of cleanliness, and well kept grounds. In walking distance of a small French town with all the amenities, and an endless choice of day trips to explore, this is a good choice for caravanners and motorhome-ers looking for an extended stay.
Pete and his family do a great job of keeping the site looking lovely, and his lifetime of experience in the industry really pays off. You're in good hands here and if you need help with something, just let Pete know.
Some pitches are shady, some are sunnier. We stayed on pitch 6 and our Golden Retriever was very comfortable. Pitches 1 and 12 were shady too, and had river views, they would be my top choices for bird watching first thing in the morning.
If you wanted the river view but didn't have one from your pitch, don't worry there are benches along the bank for your evening glass of wine.
Overall there is a lovely sense of calm and peace and quiet on the site. There is no bar, no activities, no slides in the pool, perfect when all you want to do is watch the river.
For those who prefer to leave their caravan in France, the site offers a few storage spaces, all under the watchful eye of a motion activated security camera. And Bella the dog!
Due to limited space, storage is only available for those who want to stay on site.
And as dog owners themselves, pooches have not been forgotten about here. There is a small gated field where they can run off lead.
It's only a 5 minute flat walk into St Foy la Grande, a pretty medieval town with everything you need, plus some lovely Brocante shops to explore. It was rainy when we visited, and lock down rules were preventing everything being open so we are keen to return in 'normal' times'.
If that is not enough for you, day trips from here include Saint Emilion, Sarlat, Bergerac and all the pretty villages to discover along the way. And if you are a motorhome-er you will be pleased to know that there is a train station in walking distance of the campsite which will take you to all the big towns listed above, or a 1 hour journey to Bordeaux! No need to worry about parking in the city!
All in all a great spot for a long stay holiday.
